Encouraged by his father, a motorsport enthusiast and occasional rally driver, Pedro began racing Motorbikes at 6 years old. At 13 he started to race karts with sufficient success to progress into single seaters in 1989.

Deputising for the injured Zanardi, Pedro made his GP debut at Monza and completed the remainder of the season for Team Lotus. With the additional pressure of the European Formula 3000 title undecided, Pedro finished in a credible 11th position in his first Grand Prix.

1994

Pedro is competing in his first full season of Formula One, alongside team leader Johnny Herbert.

Throughout winter testing, he has gained experience of the 107C's semi-automatic gearbox and has acclimated himself well to the handling of a passive car in preparation for the sixteen round FIA Formula One World Championship.
